Decontamination for Medical Services (DVD Course)

The Department of Homeland Security has mandated an atmosphere of readiness for everyone, including emergency medical professionals, and that includes hazardous materials and weapons of mass destruction.

Do you know how to properly stage the decontamination process for a small or large pool of victims?

Do you know how to protect your personnel, the patients and visitors already in your facility?

Can you accurately triage victims exposed to a hazardous material?

Can you recognize and respond properly to various chemical agents, and select the proper PPE accordingly?

Do you know if your Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is functional? If your medical facility has PPE on hand, you may think you're ready for an incident involving hazardous materials or a weapon of mass destruction, but you're not. The PPE on-hand, right now, in your stockroom, could be useless.

This course will assist medical professionals in understanding how to implement and facilitate the decontamination process, including Personal Protective Equipment.

Person Protective Equipment (PPE) for Medical Services (DVD Course)

In the response to an incident involving hazardous materials or a weapon of mass destruction, you may have to wear PPE to protect yourself, the facility, and the patients and visitors already in your care.

Have you ever practiced medicine wearing Personal Protective Equipment? If you haven’t, or if you’ve never even considered how challenging it is, then this course is for you?

Did you know that some Personal Protective Equipment adds as much as 70 pounds to your body weight?

Can you imagine wearing PPE in an environment where the temperature soars to 100 degrees?

Can you still perform essential tasks wearing gloves, boots and a hood which significantly diminish sensory perception?

This course will help emergency professionals who may have to respond to a patient exposed to a hazardous material understand the challenges of PPE and how to overcome them.
